A long-time public school teacher and Steinbach city councillor since 2006, I'm committed to bringing the same practical leadership to the Legislature fiscally responsible government and strong family values for Steinbach.
Why Michael Zwaagstra?
A long-time public school teacher, Michael is a strong believer in quality education and ensuring Manitoba youth achieve academic excellence.
Michael also brings with him a significant track record of achievement in municipal leadership. As Steinbach's deputy mayor, Michael has provided collaborative, solutions-oriented leadership to constituents since his 2006 election to City Council.
In that role, he has focused on delivering tangible benefits and advancing regional priorities for local families and businesses including on issues such as safety, economic development, and infrastructure, to name a few.
During his time on council, Michael served as chair of the RCMP Advisory Committee and pushed to increase the number of RCMP officers stationed in the city. He also played a key role in the negotiations that led to the construction of the Southeast Event Centre, a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Steinbach.
Because of his extensive community involvement and record of public service, Michael understands the needs of the Steinbach constituency, and he will advocate forcefully for the interests of the people he represents.
The Steinbach constituency can rely on Michael to advocate for fiscally responsible government, strong family values, and a free, unrestricted private sector. Michael has always been forthright about his beliefs, and his constituents will always know where he stands on the important issues.
Michael will bring the same energy and enthusiasm to the Manitoba Legislature that he has brought to the classroom and to Steinbach City Council over the last two decades.

Steinbach Constituency Needs a New High School
Hanover School Division is growing rapidly, and the SRSS is already the largest high school in the province. Michael will push for a new high school in the Steinbach Constituency.

Why Edna Nabess?
Everything I am today began here in northern Manitoba.
I was born in Cormorant, raised in the traditions of Mathias Colomb Cree Nation, built a business in The Pas, and have spent my life working alongside families and communities throughout the North. The people, cultures, and communities of The Pas–Kameesak have shaped who I am. This is home.
I am running because I believe our communities deserve a strong voice someone who understands the North not because they've read about it, but because they've lived it.
Throughout my life, I have worked to create opportunities for others. Whether supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs, raising a family, opening my home to foster children, helping young people in remote communities, or serving on provincial boards, my purpose has always been the same: to leave my community stronger than I found it.
I believe The Pas–Kameesak has one of the brightest futures in Manitoba. Our region is home to hardworking people, proud Indigenous communities, abundant natural resources, thriving tourism, forestry, mining, fishing, trapping, agriculture, and small businesses that have supported northern families for generations. We have everything we need to succeed. What we need is leadership that believes in our people, works in partnership with our communities, and creates the opportunities that will keep our young people here, attract new investment, and build a stronger future for everyone.
I want to be a strong voice for every community across this riding from The Pas and Opaskwayak Cree Nation to Cormorant, Moose Lake, Pukatawagan, Grand Rapids, Easterville, and every community in between. Every community deserves to be heard. Every family deserves opportunity. Every young person deserves a reason to build their future right here in northern Manitoba.
Politics has never been my ambition. Service has. Serving as your MLA is simply another way I can continue the work I have dedicated my life to listening to people, bringing communities together, and helping build a stronger future for northern Manitoba.
If you place your trust in me, I promise to work hard every day to earn it. I will listen with respect, lead with integrity, and always put the people of The Pas–Kameesak first.
